A letter from the City Gas Company was left in our apartment building, over the weekend, that our Landlord, J. Nichols of Lodi WI-had not paid the gas bill and that it would be shut off at 130pm on July 7, 2011. Now, this is the third notice that has been placed in our building regarding the natural gas since April of this year, however, this is the first time it has actually been shut off.
While at work tonight, my room mate came home to find that we didn't have any hot water-indicating that our gas had been shut off. Unlike the electric company, the gas company will shut off service regardless of the presence of elderly or children. Therefore i I can confidently say that Apartment #4 is absolutely livid about the whole ordeal-not only do they have a 2 year old-but a 4 week old child as well. They were already struggling with getting the Landlord to answer his phone or call them back regarding the water leakage over the toilet in their bathroom-to which they with held rent-and now they have to go without hot water, and as mentioned in my last post-garbage removal.
By now, I would venture a guess that most of you would be fuming and ready to tear this man to pieces and I can tell you that I am noteably upset-but I have to be the responsible adult and go about this in a legal way to come out the victor in the end.
As for coping with this most unfortunate of circumstances... I sent the room mate to her parents to shower and I just grinned and took myself a cold shower-somehow... the Polar Plunge doesn't seem so cold any more.
